About the Author

The Rogue Valley Muse is Joyce (Schurman Murphy) Heintz who lives with her husband, Dick, in The Rogue Valley Manor, a 1,000 resident active Continuing Care Retirement Center in Medford, Oregon.

Grateful for the beauty of the Northwest, Joyce enjoys walking, hiking, daily workouts, competitive water volleyball several times a week, meditation/prayer, volunteering in the Manor's Health Center and also at Hope House, a homeless shelter. She is an avid reader and loves to write. She has written for "The Sharantella" and other newsletters, "Hill Topics", a monthly RVM publication and several short stories and varied essays. She has completed: "In a Glass House -- Memoirs of a P.K.", written mostly for her children and an Inspirational Romance Novel, "View from the Top," set in the Northwest.

As a Preacher's Kid, Joyce lived in several states moving as the Lord or her father saw fit. Now blessed with three wonderful grown children and several grandchildren, one of Joyce's sons is the designer of this website.

Always a searcher in the field of human understanding and personal growth, her self-injunctions include: "Trust the Process"… and Rainer Maria Rilke's: "Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart. And try to love the questions themselves. Do not seek the answers that cannot be given you because you would not be able to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answers."

Joyce is thrilled to share this website containing some of her musings, with you, and would enjoy hearing back from you. Synopsis by chapters and complete manuscript of Inspirational Romance Novel are available with inquiry from agents.
