The Year Before Me |
As far as my eyes can see, laid out before me, a field of pristine sparkling white snow.
Unploughed, unmarred by footprints, nor yellow stains, nor pieces of trash from distant farms.
Blown, here and there, into gentle drifts, patiently awaiting the next wind gust to change their shapes, dimensions, locations.
No trace of snow angels made by children at play, nor sleds, nor snow-shoes, nor lost red woolen mittens.
Pure, unsullied, glistening, blinding as the sunlight meets the cold earth.
How like the year that lies before me. Awaiting my foot-steps. Accepting my litter, my toys, my things...the remnents of my play... the lost items I leave behind...
Drifts I co-create, changing in shape, dimensions, location, through which to journey.... Blinded by sunlight on new pure endless possibilities patiently awaiting my choices, my foot-prints. |
